Align PDF Takeoff to CAD File

The procedure for aligning a PDF takeoff to a CAD file uses the Align Image Matching Edges command to move the takeoff data to the CAD file.

Align PDF Takeoff to CAD Data

To align a takeoff that was entered from a PDF file to a CAD file, first open the job entered from the PDF file.  You may insert the PDF file if desired.  ..

 

  • Right click and select Import Image / File.

  • Import the CAD file. .

 

 

  • Select Data Transfer > Crop Rectangle to eliminate any excess data and set the limits of the CAD data. Draw a box around the data.  Click Yes to continue.

  • Transfer some data that can be found on the takeoff plan.  In this example, we are using the Property Line.

  • Return to Edit mode..

 

  • You will see a message explaining the options. You will see two windows. The job data will show a red border and the CAD data will show a yellow border. In most cases you will move the job data to the CAD data.

  • Click Move Data.

 

 

  • Pick the first point on the takeoff that will move to the CAD data.  Click OK.

 

  • Pick the second point in the CAD data window that corresponds to the first point.  Click OK.

 

 

  • Pick the third point in the takeoff window that will move to the CAD data.  Click OK.

 

  • Pick the fourth point in the CAD window that corresponds to point 3.  Click OK.  The takeoff will move to the CAD coordinates.
