Align Image

The Align Image command is used to align the plan sheets only. No data will be moved using this command. The Align Image command is in the Right Click menu.

Align Image to CAD Data

When importing a CAD file, you may want to align the PDF plan sheet in the background. You must first import the CAD file and transfer the data to the desired surfaces. Import the PDF plan sheet and scale the image.  Return to Edit mode..

 

  • Right click and select Align Image.

  • Pick the first point on the PDF image that will move to the CAD data.

  • Snap (F8), the second point to the corresponding CAD data line. The image will move to the second point.

  • If the image is not aligned, pick the third point on the PDF image.

  • Snap (F8) the fourth point to the corresponding CAD data line. The image will be aligned to the CAD data.

  • A message will display indicating which points were moved. If the Scale Factor is close to 1.000, keep the box to Maintain Image Scale checked.  If the scale factor is larger than 1.1, uncheck the box to Maintain Image Scale. Click OK. the image will be aligned.

 

Align Plan Sheet with a Matchline

Some projects may have multiple plan sheets for the grading.  In some cases, there will be a matchline between plan sheets.

  • Import and scale the first plan sheet. Return to Edit mode.

  • Enter an Annotation line along the matchline connecting two points that can be found on the adjacent sheet.

  • Import the second sheet.  If the plans are in a bundle, the sheet will automatically be scaled and transferred to Edit Mode.  If the plan sheet is in a separate PDF file, you will need to scale the Image and then return to Edit mode.

  • Right click and select Align Image.

  • First, select the point on the image that corresponds to the end of the Annotation line.

  • Snap (F8) the second point to the corresponding end of the annotation line. The image will move to the second point.  If the plans are at the same orientation, they should be aligned.  Press the Escape key or right click and select Cancel if the are aligned correctly. If they plans are at a different orientation, proceed to the next step.

  • Pick the third point on the image..

  • Snap (F8) the fourth point to the corresponding end of the Annotation line.

  • A message will display indicating which points were moved. If the Scale Factor is close to 1.000, keep the box to Maintain Image Scale checked.  If the scale factor is larger than 1.1, uncheck the box to Maintain Image Scale. Click OK. the image will be aligned.

Align Plan Sheets to Overall Plan

Some projects may have multiple plan sheets for the grading.  In some cases, there will be an overall plan sheet that shows the entire site.

  • Import and scale the overall plan sheet..

  • Enter Annotation lines on common features between the overall plan sheet and the individual plans.

  • Import the second sheet.  If the plans are in a bundle, the sheet will automatically be scaled and transferred to Edit Mode.  If the plan sheet is at a different scale, you will need to scale the Image and then return to Edit mode.

  • Right click and select Align Image.

  • First, select the point on the image that corresponds to the end of the Annotation line.

  • Snap (F8) the second point to the corresponding end of the annotation line. The image will move to the second point.  If the plans are at the same orientation, they should be aligned.  Press the Escape key or right click and select Cancel if the are aligned correctly. If they plans are at a different orientation, proceed to the next step.

  • Pick the third point on the image..

  • Snap (F8) the fourth point to the corresponding end of the Annotation line.

  • Continue this procedure until all sheets are aligned.
