The Add Benchmark button on the Utility Toolbar is used to add a benchmark in Edit Mode. Benchmarks can be used to make re-scaling to plan sheets a faster process and also used to prepare a job for the field.
Note: Benchmarks can also be entered in the Benchmark Layer of either the Existing or Design surfaces using Entry Mode.
Using a Selected Point |

Select the point on the data line where the benchmark will be located. Common points my be property lines or lot corners. |

Press the Add Benchmark button. The Add Point window displays. The Latitude and Longitude fields will default to 0. Latitude and Longitude is required when geo-referencing the file to export a KMZ file to Google Earth or for use in the field with SmartPlan. |

Press OK to enter the new point. |

Using Coordinates |

Press the Add Benchmark button once to activate the command. The cross hair displays. |

Move the cross hair to the desired location and press the Left Mouse button to place the benchmark. The Add Point window displays. Make any changes the coordinates, elevation or labels and press OK to enter the new point. |

The benchmark displays in the location and with labels specified in the Add Point window displayed above. Benchmarks are labeled 1 through 3 according to the order they are entered. |
