Balance Regions are used to quantify the volumes, haul distances and slopes, as well as planning how dirt is going to be moved. After the Balance Regions are entered, use the Calc Balance Regions button to calculate the volumes for each Balance Region and report the volumes in the Haul Report.
Balance Regions are entered in Planview Mode , using the Pen technique. Before a Balance Region is entered, choose which surfaces will be used for comparison in the Ref and Diff menus at the top of the screen.

The Pen Technique is used to enter a Balance Region tracing the boundaries of the area by entering points. When the Balance Region (Pen) button is pressed, the following window displays. Enter the Region Name for a new region, or use the drop-down menu and choose an existing Region Name to edit the boundary (see Editing Balance Regions). Type in the Fill Factor and press OK. The arrow changes to the crosshair. Start entering points. Press the Right Mouse button to close the region. The Balance Region Total window displays showing which surfaces were compared, the Region Name, Fill Factor, any Cut/Fill, Import/Export, as well as the Area of the region, distance of the haul and slope. Press OK to close this window. Additional Balance Regions entered will auto-increment based from the most recently entered region name. |
