The easiest way to add points to a line is by using the F6 key on the keyboard. There is another way to add points to a line, but it involves knowing the coordinates of the new point. The first method described is the easier of the two.

Using F6 |
The F6 key is a quick and easy method used to add points to an existing line. |
Place the arrow over the desired line and press the Left button once to select it. |
Move the arrow to the location where the new point will be added and press the F6 key. |
The grade at that location is interpolated and an interpolated point is placed on the line. |
Using the Elevation Dialog |
The second, more complex method of adding a point requires having known the coordinates and elevation of the point to be added. |
Select the line to add the point to. |
Select a point closest to the location of the point to be added from the Elevation Dialog located on the right side of the screen. |
Press the Right Mouse button to display the menu. Choose Insert Point. |
When the Point Editor displays, type in the North and East coordinates and Elevation for the new point and press OK. |
The new point is placed above the existing point on the list. |
