The Utility Toolbar displays different options depending on which window is open. Below is a list of commands which may display in this toolbar.
Home |
The Home Button on the toolbar or the Home key on the keyboard centers the overlay and sizes it to fill the screen. |

Pan |
Press the Pan Button to display the hand symbol. Press and hold down the Left mouse button and move the mouse in the direction you want the overlay to move. Release the button to stop panning and press the Right mouse button once to end panning. The Arrow keys on the keyboard will also pan, but they move the overlay in the opposite direction indicated on the arrow key. |

Area Zoom |
Area Zoom defines the desired view by dragging a box around the information desired. Press the Left Mouse button once then drag the rubber-band box either to the upper right or lower left to define the zoom area. Press the Left button again to then zoom in to that area. |

Layer Selection |
The Layer Selection window controls the display of the Earthwork 4D layers. It is also accessed by choosing Layer Selection from the View menu or by pressing Alt-B. Clicking the individual checkboxes turns the layers off and on. Grayed layers are not available for display. |

Shade Table |
Toggle the display of the cut/fill shade table for the 3D Terrain. |
|
Show Trimesh |
Displays the Triangular Mesh over the plan view. |
|
Water Flow |
Displays shaded lines on the overlay indicating the direction water will flow on the surface. Also see: Water_Flow |

Send to Print Page |
Sends the current screen image to the Print Page. Also see Send To Print Page |

Edit Mode Only |

Label Selection |
Selects all lines with the same label. If no line is previously selected, the command displays a window allowing the user to select a label from a list of all labels in the current surface. Also see: Selecting by Labels |

Offset Line |
Displays the Offset Line Editor. |
|
Join |
Used to connect multiple lines as one. It also connects the end points of a single line. The keyboard shortcut is Ctrl-J. Also see: Bridge Gap |
|
Swap Ends |
This command switches the start and end points of a selected line. Allows the user to change the direction the line was entered. |
|
Trim Line |
Breaks all lines which cross the selected trim line. |
|
Fillet Line |
Fillets one or two selected lines. The keyboard shortcut is Ctrl-F. Also see: Fillet_Line |
|
Add Benchmark |
Used to add a benchmark. After a benchmark is entered, the Edit Point window displays allowing you to add adjust the point location or assign a label. |

Add Stake Point |
Used to add a Stake Point to create a Stake List. Displays the Add Point window for coordinates and labels. Also see: Adding_a_Stake_Point |

Report Region |
Used to edit existing report regions and sectional areas. Also see: Report_Region |
|
Edit Balance Region |
Used for editing an existing balance region Name and/or Fill Factor. Also see: Editing Balance Regions |
|
Length/Area |
Used to display the length, plane, and slope area of a selected line, or total length of multiple lines. Also see: Length/Area_Info. |

Attach Profile |
Used to attach a Plan Profile to an entered Profile Line |
|
Add Note |
Used to add a note to the Documentation layer. |

Entry Mode Only |

Rectangle Tool |
Used to draw a rectangle. Press the left mouse button to initiate the function. Move the mouse away from the point and press the left button again to end. After the rectangle is added, the Add Rectangle window displays allowing you to make adjustments to the width and height. |

Circle Tool |
Used to draw a circle. Place the crosshair where the center of the circle will be drawn from. Press the left mouse button once and move the crosshair away from the center. Press the left button again to end. After the circle is added, the Edit Circle Radius window appears allowing you to adjust the radius of the circle. |

Report Region |
Used to enter report region and sectional areas Also see: Report_Region |

Balance Regions |
Used to enter balance regions in Entry Mode. Also see: Balance Regions |
|
Over-Ex Guide |
Displays the Over-Ex Guide to assist in staging over-excavation data. Also see: Over_Excavating |

Profile View Mode Only |

Enter Profile
|
Starts the Profile Entry command allowing the user to enter profile lines across the overlay while viewing the profile in real time at the bottom of the screen. |
|
Swap Ends
|
Switches the start and Finish of the selected profile line. |
|
Edit Station/Offsets
|
Displays the Edit Station/Offset window. Allows the user to enter the station name and the horizontal offset distance. |
|
Station Generator |
Displays the Profile Generation window. Allows the user to enter the station name, station interval and left/right offsets. |
|
Attach Profile |
Used to attach a Plan Profile to an entered Profile Line |

Balance Regions (pen) |
Used to enter a balance region using the pen technique. |
|
Volume Area |
Creates a report region around all design perimeters for total volume calculation. The keyboard shortcut is Ctrl-A. |

Calc Volume |
Begins the volume calculation command. The keyboard shortcut is Ctrl-V. |
|
Calc Balance Areas |
Calculates the Balance Area Volume. The keyboard shortcut is Crtl-B. |

3D View Mode Only |

Record |
Used to record a driving simulation path. |

Play |
Plays the recorded driving simulation path. |
|
Pause |
Pauses the recorded driving simulation path. |
|
Stop |
Stops the driving simulation. |
